Do you find yourself stuck on what content to push on social media? Today, brands and individuals are expected to push a TON of content. From snapping the perfect picture, to keeping a consistent color palette, to creating content that converts – there is A LOT to consider! It’s only natural to be overwhelmed and confused with where to start…enter the Content Pillar Ideas.
So what exactly is a Content Pillar Strategy? Well – “A content pillar is a subset of topics or themes which create the foundation for your overall content strategy.” In a nutshell, these pillars are your foundation for what to post and when to post it.
Content Pillars work so well because it gives people a solid framework to work within. They take the guess work out in a three fold based way.
- Organization: You stay focused on your overall brand and mission.
- Targeting: You serve your audience at all times. This converts regular followers into fan and friends and keeps people coming back for more.
- Ideation: You are already focused on what you need to post, the every increasing panic of last minute posts are gone.
Where to Start:
So where do we start? Well, I suggest by identifying your DREAM audience. I want you to decide WHO, WHAT, WHERE, and WHY. What does your dream client, follower, friend look like? What is her age? What does she do for a living? What inspires her? Where does she shop? What are her goals? Now..give her (or him) a name. THIS is who you need to speak to EVERY time you post.
Next let’s determine what you want to post about. Start jotting down things that set your heart on fire. Are you passionate about working out? Add that as a pillar. Healthy eating? Add it to the list. Rack your brain and come up with AS MANY ideas as possible. Then go back through your list and cut it down to no more than 9 main pillars. These are your 9 box content pillar ideas.
While this sounds like it can be extremely overwhelming, I promise it’s not! It’s actually quite fun! Give yourself some time to knock this out and always place the list where you can see it in case you want to add or remove anything that may not fit.
